Sengoku Rance clans

Nineteen clans divide the civil war. Some hold one province, some stretch across a coast, and a few share every border they touch. Each house has the name players already use, a second name when one exists, and the provinces it holds.

Different clans means different wars. The One Eyed Clan, also called the Dokuganryu Clan, is tied to Ezo, Oshu, and Mikawa. The Oda sit on Owari. The Monster Army shares Battleship Nagato, Cairo, Morocco, Amazon, and South Africa with the houses already there. Those nineteen houses are the controllers on the domain.

Nineteen houses, not one flag

The civil war is a stack of local arguments that happen to share a map. Uesugi touch Sado and Maso. Takeda touch Sado, Saitama, Kazusa 2000, Maso, Shinano, Kairapace, Edo, and Tokaido, which makes them the house touching the most provinces. Houjou, also written Hojo, touch Saitama, Kazusa 2000, Edo, and Shikokalamity. Imagawa appear on Tokaido only, beside Takeda and Tokugawa.

Smaller houses are not filler. Tanegashima share Tamba with the Mouri. Iga hold Yamato. Hara hold Ise. Akashi share Himeji with the Mouri. Takuga share Chuu-earth with the Mouri and Shikokalamity with the Houjou. Tenshiism hold Naniwa and Mikan. Azai-Asakura hold Texas. Ashikaga hold Viper Oil Field and Kyo. Each of those houses holds a real stake, even when the stake is a single province.

Count the houses if the civil war feels abstract. Nineteen names, and the Takeda touch eight provinces while Imagawa touch one. A house with a single land can still decide a road: Imagawa on Tokaido sit between Tokugawa and Takeda, and that road is power 5 with no pit of its own.

Dual names you will meet in play

Three houses travel under two labels, and both labels mean the same house. The Miko Union is also the Miko Institute, and the land they hold is Yamatai, power 1, with Orochi's Pit. On the map, Peach Blossom Shrine shows the Miko Union beside a national power readout, which fits a power-1 province better than a great clan's capital.

The One Eyed Clan is also the Dokuganryu Clan. Use either name when you are matching a story line to Ezo, Oshu, or the shared claim on Mikawa. Houjou and Hojo are the same Kantou house. The champions of Kantou are this house, not a second clan with a similar crest. A scene that spells the name Hojo is still this Kantou house.

Yamatai's power of 1 is why the Miko Union can look small on a map and still own a named shrine scene. Orochi's Pit is the dungeon on Yamatai. If a scene says Miko Institute, it is this same house, not a twentieth clan hiding under a similar crest.

Monster Army, Shimazu, and the far rows

The Monster Army does not own a quiet homeland in the middle of the home islands. Its ties are Battleship Nagato, Cairo, Morocco, Amazon, and South Africa, always shared. Shimazu hold Cairo, Morocco, Amazon, and South Africa, and they are not on Battleship Nagato. Mouri are the other name on Battleship Nagato, and they also reach Tamba, Izumo, Himeji, Chuu-earth, and Redhelm.

Redhelm is the Mouri high-water mark: national power 7, code TFC, pit Red Wall Dungeon, and no second controller. South Africa is the opposite end, power 2, code FC, no pit, Shimazu and Monster Army together. The map's marks are yours, a client state, bordering, and enemy. Redhelm and South Africa still differ by power, by pit, and by who shares them.

Battleship Nagato is the odd land in that set: Mouri and the Monster Army, power 4, code TFF, pit Bikini Outlook. Shimazu are absent there and present on Cairo, Morocco, Amazon, and South Africa. Treating the Monster Army as a normal province clan misses the way it only appears as a share.

Oda at Owari, and the houses around them

The Oda clan holds Owari, power 5, code FFTC, pit Miso Katsu Dungeon. Nobunaga runs the house and also cooks dango and slips off to a teahouse. Kouhime, his younger sister, keeps the political work moving. That domestic split matters when you recruit them, because Owari has one controller: nobody else holds it.

Tokugawa hold Mikawa with the One Eyed Clan and share Tokaido with Imagawa and Takeda. Their buried-treasure pit is on Mikawa, not on the road. If you are deciding which neighbor of Owari to pressure first, Tokaido is the shared road at power 5 with no pit, and Mikawa is the power-4 land with a named cache. The cache is Tokugawa's Buried Treasure on Mikawa, and Tokaido has none.

Around Owari, Ise is Hara at power 3 with Pearl Dungeon, and Mikan is Tenshiism at power 4 with the Underground Mikan Plantation. Neither is an Oda land. A march out of Owari therefore hits a different house immediately, even when the teahouse scenes make the Oda feel like the center of the story.
