Sengoku Rance
Sengoku Rance is the conquest of Nippon: take neighboring lands, recruit commanders, and settle the wars in turn-based battles. A finished run opens a branching storyline, so the second campaign is not a blank map.

Rance reaches the eastern nation of Nippon with the hot springs on his mind and Sill Plain beside him. The trip does not stay a holiday. He becomes ruler of a feudal state, then sets out to unite Nippon because power, not a quiet bath, is what he keeps chasing.
Alicesoft developed the conquest RPG. Kagura Games and MangaGamer publish the Windows version that reached Steam on 1 October 2026. You expand a domain by taking neighboring lands, recruit commanders with their own reasons for joining, and settle the wars in turn-based battles.
English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese are the three supported languages. The campaign is single-player, and the Windows release supports Steam Cloud and Family Sharing. A finished run opens a branching storyline, and a later run can carry elements forward, so the second campaign is not a blank map.
The Windows release is single-player. Steam Cloud keeps the campaign on the machines you already use, and Family Sharing lets a household library open the same app. None of that changes the war: neighboring lands still have to be taken, and the hot springs stay a joke Rance tells while the army moves.

From the hot springs to a domain
The trip starts simple, and then it does not. Rance has already torn across the Continent, and Nippon is the next place he wants to enjoy. Sill travels with him as the mage who ends up doing the work he shrugs off. The moment he is handed a feudal state, the hot springs stop being the goal and become the joke he tells while the army moves.
Territory is the loop. You conquer a neighboring land and use what that land provides: people, a pit, a road, or a number the next battle has to respect. National power is that number. Ezo, held by the One Eyed Clan, is power 3 with the code FFTFC. Sado, shared by the Uesugi and the Takeda, is power 6 with the code TFC and the Sado Gold Mine under it. Those two provinces are enough to see why the map is not a flat list of names.
What a finished campaign unlocks
Dozens of heroes can join. Seven are named from the start: Rance, Sill, Nobunaga Oda, Kouhime, Kenshin Uesugi, Isoroku Yamamoto, and Ran Nanjou. Kenshin is Nippon's strongest swordfighter, called the Goddess of War. Ran lost a Houjou succession test to Souun Houjou and still leads the Nanjou. None of them is a blank recruit card.
Battles are turn-based and tactical, and the pits between them return resources and equipment. Choices during the war change which routes you see. The first clear unlocks a branching storyline, and later runs can carry elements from the clear you already earned. That is why a second sitting is part of the design, not a bonus menu glued on after the credits.
Provinces carry the numbers, clans carry the houses, and those seven names are the commanders the war puts forward first. A fight, a pit, and a story choice are three sides of that same campaign.
A campaign you can install
The Steam release date is 1 October 2026, and the edition went on sale in Japan on 2 October 2026. Kagura Games and MangaGamer publish that Windows build. You do not need a second launcher to read the three languages, and you do not need a network connection merely to finish a battle once the game is installed.
What you do need is a sense of the map. Power 3 at Ezo is a different appointment from power 7 at Redhelm. A shared road such as Tokaido, with Imagawa, Takeda, and Tokugawa all claiming it, writes more grudges than a land such as Owari, which the Oda hold alone. Those contrasts are the practical start, before you try to name every pit.
On Steam the app is 3867170, and the age rating is 0. The same Windows campaign is what the 2006 original became after the English download and the later Steam release, so a new player is not looking at a second map.
