Three editions mark the road from a Japan-only PC game to the Steam release. The original landed on 15 December 2006. MangaGamer's English DRM-free Windows release followed on 19 September 2019. The Steam Windows release is dated 1 October 2026. In Japan the edition went on sale on 2 October 2026.
Those three dates are the original PC game, the English download, and the Steam release. The Chinese highlight trailer advertises the 2026 edition.

Original Japanese PC release
15 December 2006 · Japanese PC
15 December 2006 is the original PC release, the seventh Rance game, sold in Japan and not as an English Windows build. There is no Steam build, no MangaGamer installer, and no three-language selector on this edition. English menus belong to a later edition.
MangaGamer English release
19 September 2019 · MangaGamer
MangaGamer put an English DRM-free Windows build on sale on 19 September 2019. The setting is the fourth Sengoku era in Nippon, with Kouhime of the Oda clan as one of its faces. It is the edition that let players play in English without a fan patch, and it is still a download outside Steam. The 2026 Steam release did not erase it.
Steam Windows release
1 October 2026 · Steam
The Steam date is 1 October 2026 for app 3867170. In Japan the edition went on sale on 2 October 2026. English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese are on this build. Kagura's v1.01 patch targets the Steam and GOG copies outside Japan, and the older Alicesoft updater does not apply. The Chinese highlight is a trailer for this edition, not for the 2006 release.
The seventh game, Japan only, in 2006
The 2006 release is the seventh Rance game. Players who know Rance IX or Rance X can place this war before those campaigns instead of after them. Rance IX and Rance X are later wars. This one is earlier: the Houjou in Kantou, Kenshin leading the Uesugi, and the Oda at Owari. It was a Japanese PC release. English support was not part of that box, which is why the 2019 release stands as its own edition.
The provinces, clans, and commanders of the Nippon war are the content of that game as it survived into the later Windows editions. Ezo at power 3 and Redhelm at power 7 are not new to Steam. What 2006 does not include is the Steam library language switch, Family Sharing, or Cloud. Judge a 2006 disc by the war, not by those later services.
Hot springs, a mage companion, and a feudal state that turns into a unification war are already the 2006 game. Sill travels with Rance from the opening of the Nippon trip, and the state he is handed is what turns the hot springs into a unification war. Later editions translate and repackage that war. Ezo, the Houjou, and Kenshin are already named in that 2006 war. A trailer dated 2026 is the Steam edition of this same seventh entry.
MangaGamer's English Windows build
On 19 September 2019 MangaGamer sold an English, DRM-free Windows download. The setting is the fourth Sengoku era in Nippon, with Kouhime of the Oda clan as a face of it. She belongs to Owari, the province the Oda hold alone. It was the English edition for years.
DRM-free means the 2019 installer is not a Steam ticket. If you already own that download, the 2026 Steam release is a second Windows home for the same campaign, with Cloud, Family Sharing, and the three-language set. Kagura later patched Steam and GOG outside Japan with v1.01. That 2019 download was the first English sale. Steam is a later home for the same campaign, not the only one there has ever been.
Kouhime of the Oda keeps company with Owari, the Miso Katsu Dungeon, and Nobunaga's teahouse. Nobunaga cooks dango and slips off to a teahouse while she does the clan's political work. The pit under Owari is the territorial half of that same house. A download that cannot reach those names is not the MangaGamer English build, whatever the installer calls itself.
Kagura's heading and the later Steam slate
The full title is Rance VII – Sengoku Rance –. The Kagura download is DRM-free, Windows only, and does not need a network connection to play. The requirements never ask for an always-online connection. The Steam edition adds Cloud and Family Sharing. It does not add a network check to the act of playing.
Later Steam plans, set out in December 2025, name other games in the series: Rance 01 and Rance 02, Rance 03, Rance IX, Rance X, Rance Quest Magnum, and Rance IV. Those are other games. This is the first Rance game on Steam, and the other names are planned after it. Installing one of them is not how you play the Nippon war. They are why a 2006 seventh entry and a 2026 Steam release can sit in a longer schedule without being the same product as Rance X. The edition dated 1 October 2026 is still the Nippon war: hot springs, a feudal state, and the job of uniting the map.
Rance Quest Magnum and Rance IV sit on that later list beside Rance IX and Rance X. None of them is the province board with FFTFC on Ezo. 15 December 2006 and 1 October 2026 are this war. The December 2025 list names the other games.
